01Qualification

What it takes to be fundable.

Minimum time in business

Every funder has a floor. Ours is on this page: how long you have traded, what your business account takes in, and how that account behaves. Read it before you spend an afternoon gathering documents.

02The floor

Four hard minimums.

Requirements vary between funders, but almost every file turns on the same short list. Miss one of these and the rest of the file rarely gets read.

Why this is on the page

Every broker in this industry knows these thresholds. Most keep them off the website so the phone rings more often. Publishing them costs Atlas Business Capital calls that were never going to convert, and saves you an afternoon.

Minimum time in business

Trading history is the first filter, and the one that turns away the most files. Under 18 months is rarely fundable, whatever else is true about the business.

Average monthly deposits

Most files sit between $10,000 and $25,000+ in average deposits. How steady the deposits are matters as much as the total.

Credit considered from

Many funders work from 500 to 600+. Credit is read, not obeyed. What the bank account does month to month carries more weight.

Business bank account

Funding arrives in, and the weekly payment leaves from, a US or UK business bank account. In the US that debit runs by ACH; the mechanism differs in the UK and will be set out in your agreement. A personal account does not qualify in either market.

Clearing the floor tells you the file is worth working. It does not tell you the size. That is set on revenue: up to 100% of last year, from $15,000 to $20,000,000.

03Strength

What strengthens a file.

None of this is scored on a form. A funder reads your bank statements, and the statements describe the business more accurately than any application field.

Reads well

  • Consistent deposits: similar totals month to month, with no unexplained gaps
  • Few or no NSF returns, and few days in negative balance
  • Strong accounts receivable: revenue already owed to you counts in your favor
  • Clean, complete statements: every page of every month, nothing missing
  • Few or no existing positions against the same receivables
  • A trading history well beyond the 18-month floor

A strong file is not only more likely to be placed. It is priced better: a lower factor rate inside the 1.201.50 range, a longer term, or a smaller origination fee.

04Friction

What complicates a file.

None of these is an automatic decline. They change which funders will look, what they will offer, and how much of the file has to be explained rather than simply read.

Needs explaining

  • Existing advances: possible, but stacking limits apply and they narrow quickly
  • Frequent negative days or NSF returns on the business account
  • Highly seasonal revenue with long dry periods between seasons
  • A recent sharp drop in deposits, unless there is a clear reason for it

If one of these applies to you, say so at the start. A fact that arrives with an explanation is worked with. The same fact discovered in the statements is treated as a surprise, and surprises cost you terms.

05Outside what we do

What we cannot help with.

Being specific here is not modesty. It is the difference between an honest ten minutes and a wasted week.

  • Businesses under the time-in-business floor

Less than 18 months of trading history. Some brokers will take the file anyway and let a week of your time answer the question. We would rather answer it here.

  • Start-ups with no trading history

An advance is the purchase of future receivables, priced off receivables that already exist. With no trading history there is nothing to read in the statements and nothing to price.

  • Businesses without a US or UK business bank account

Deposits and repayment both run through that account. Without one there is no mechanism, however healthy the revenue looks.

  • Personal and consumer funding

This is business funding only. Nothing here is arranged for personal use, and an advance cannot be taken in a personal capacity.

  • Industries declined across the market

Some sectors are declined by most funders, for reasons that have nothing to do with your business specifically. If yours is one of them we will say so on the first call, rather than collect statements and come back a week later with the same answer.

A fast no is worth more to you than a slow maybe.

06Credit

A score changes your terms. It does not decide your file.

Many funders consider credit from 500 to 600+. A higher score usually earns a better factor rate, a longer term, or a smaller origination fee. On its own, it rarely decides approval.

Deposit behavior carries more weight. A modest score attached to steady deposits and a clean account reads better than a strong score attached to erratic deposits and a run of NSF returns. The statements describe the business as it trades now. The score describes what happened to the owner over several years, some of it before the business existed.

That is the whole reason this product exists at the price it does. It is also why a low score is worth a conversation rather than an assumption.

How rates and terms are set

Read before the score

  • Average monthly deposits, and how steady they are
  • How many separate deposits arrive in a month
  • Negative days and NSF returns
  • Balances at the end of each month
  • Obligations already leaving the account

07No credit pull

Asking costs you nothing.

An enquiry on this site involves no credit pull. Telling us what the business does and what it deposits is a conversation, not an application, and it leaves no mark on your file.

Documents come later and only if the file is worth taking forward: 3 to 6 months of business bank statements, owner ID, and a voided check. They are sent securely and are never uploaded on this website. Any credit check happens at the funder underwriting stage, with your knowledge.

On this site

  • No credit pull
  • No SSN required
  • No documents collected
  • No obligation

Find out where you actually stand.

Tell us how long the business has traded and what it deposits in a normal month. If you are under the floor we will say so, and tell you what would change the answer.
